Prompting
AniGen’s prompting system is designed to be simple and easy to use, but also with advanced image generation capabilities if you wish to step out of the box. You can generate images by simply typing the prompt in the prompt box and clicking the generate button, but organizing your prompt will help you create better artwork.
Comma Separated Prompting¶
Since our models are refined with anime-tagged images, it is always better to use comma-separated prompting. This will also help you use our suggestions box to fill out your prompt quickly.
1boy wearing a school uniform
would give you good artwork, but since your prompts will get more complex with more experience, it’s best to write 1boy, male focus, school uniform
. It’s simpler and easier, and it gives the exact artwork you need.
Tip
Did you notice the male focus
keyword? Whenever generating a male character, it is best to use the male focus
keyword. Most anime artwork used in training data consists of female characters as the main focus, which means we should add male focus
for some extra emphasis.
More Details Means Better Artwork¶
Here is the artwork for a simple prompt:
1girl, smile, dancing
If you want a generalized image, this artwork is perfect since it perfectly captures everything you mention in the prompt. But if you want more details and want it to be more aesthetic, it’s best to add more details such as the clothes she should wear, the place she is in, objects in the background, lighting, and any movement-specific prompting.
Here is a prompt with more details:
1girl, smile, dancing, upper body, red blouse, sleeveless dress, ballroom, lights, window, outdoors, night, motion lines, motion blur
Now you can see how the details are better captured and how it adds more soul to the image.
Negative Prompts¶
You should include anything you don’t want in the negative prompt. While generating the artwork, the model will constantly work on NOT generating anything included in the negative prompt box. If we take the same previous example but remove the color of her dress and include the keyword red blouse
in the negative prompt, it will generate anything but a red blouse.
Prompt:
1girl, smile, dancing, upper body, blouse, sleeveless dress, ballroom, lights, window, outdoors, night, motion lines, motion blur
Negative Prompt:
red blouse
The default negatives add in-built negatives to the prompt, so you don’t have to prompt them from scratch. It is recommended to keep it on, but you are free to test without it or include your own negatives.
Here is the same artwork above without default negatives.
Use Prompt Weights¶
Prompt weights emphasize certain keywords more. Take the same example above where a girl is dancing in the ballroom. If you want the lights to be emphasized more, you can add {curly brackets}
around the keyword you want to increase its emphasis. The more curly brackets you add, the more emphasis it gets.
Tip
You can press Control + Arrow Up
keys to increase the weights of keywords. Simply select the keyword or keywords you want and press Control + Arrow Up
keys.
1girl, smile, dancing, upper body, red blouse, sleeveless dress, ballroom, {{{lights}}}, window, outdoors, night, motion lines, motion blur
Now you can see there are more lights, and the environment looks more illuminated than before.
We could also de-emphasize keywords by adding [square brackets]
. If we don’t want much focus on the window, outdoors, or night sky, we can de-emphasize it. Remember, you can always decrease prompt weights of multiple keywords at the same time. Just wrap what you want around square brackets.
Tip
You can press Control + Arrow Down
keys to decrease the weights of keywords. Simply select the keyword or keywords you want and press Control + Arrow Down
keys.
1girl, smile, dancing, upper body, red blouse, sleeveless dress, ballroom, lights, [[[[[window, outdoors, night]]]]], motion lines, motion blur
Quality Tags¶
Keeping the quality tags checkbox checked is always recommended if you are new to prompting. It adds our own quality keywords and makes some backend changes to increase the quality of the artwork. Below is a comparison of artwork with and without quality tags.
By organizing your prompts and utilizing these tips, you can create detailed and high-quality artwork with AniGen’s prompting system.
